Saint George, the Victory-Bearer, was born to Christian parents in Cappadocia. As a young man, he joined the Roman army and quickly rose through the ranks as a courageous and skilled soldier. During a time when Christians faced persecution, George refused to renounce his faith or offer sacrifices to the Roman gods.

For his unwavering devotion, he endured severe torture, yet through each trial he was miraculously healed—strengthening both his faith and the faith of those who witnessed his endurance. His miracles drew many to Christianity, even while he was imprisoned.

Ultimately, Emperor Diocletian sentenced him to death. Saint George accepted his martyrdom with peace and courage, receiving the crown of eternal life as he went beneath the sword.
